Altitude Profile (160 ft to 888 ft)
More route details to follow, but the ride first starts with our favorite road climb then a rocky descent that brings us out on a road towards Grasmere, then along the coffin trail-
With a quick stop over at Rydal Hall cafe-
We then head back towards Ambleside, up towards Loughrigg Fell, but then turn off to do a great section of singletrack then technical descent down to Clappersgate.
After re-grouping at the bottom we then head over to The Drunken Duck pub, Sunny Brow, Knipe Fold, Iron Keld, then Arnside as a descent (ace), slight bit of road, Boba's Drop , then follow the bridleway over to Hodge Close, & if we've got time a visit to Hodge Close Quarry- better known as Glenns Rave Cave..
Then it's the slate chute (full marks to anyone who rides all the way to the gate), piano keys, through Hodge Close, Little Langdale, then over to the man-hole & the rooty drop. From here it's just a short spin back to Elterwater, or if some want to do a bit more they can head from here up to do Lingmoor Fell (involves a bit of a push).....or even just head to the Britannia Pub!
There's loads of other great options in this area, including Blea Tarn, Alcock Tarn & even over to Claife Heights & the Colthouse descent. I'll post up the gpx files for these if anyone wants to give them a go in their own time.
Should be an ace day out
