Altitude Profile (23 ft to 1,900 ft)
A straightforward ascent from the beach of Roque Bermejo. This route does not go through the village of Roque Bermejo, passing instead above it. After that, head up along the well-made old path up to the multi-fenced lighthouse, before ascending past abandoned terraces to the mountaintop. A path along the top leads back towards the lighthouse. There is a great view at a spot with an unusual tree, but the highest point is a bit further along.
To get to the start of this hike, you could take the Camino Roque Bermejo from Chamorga. For me, the bus timings were awkward so I started from Almáciga and took the coastal path to Roque Bermejo via Benijo, El Draguillo, and the lighthouse. The natural endpoint of the hike would be the bus stop at Chamorga, passing beneath Roque Bichelo on the way.
I did this walk from "sea level to summit" on 7 January 2012, and recorded it on GPS. I've edited this GPS track, because my phone didn't do a very good job of getting an accurate track. It's a very scenic with some vertiginous sections but nothing treacherous.
