Track simplification

This is a great route which whilst doesn’t require any pushing/carrying is still challenging for even the fittest riders. In total there’s 9 down hills. Some are swoopy single track, others require a measure of ability as theres technical features (roots, step downs/ups and lots of rocks!) No part of the route is too demanding and regular riders of natural terrain will have a blast!

From the starting point we proceed on road for approx. 2 miles to start of first climb up Loughrigg fell. This is a demanding road climb which will get the heart pumping nicely!! Through a few gates and we’re off road for a really nice singletrack section down to Skelwirth Bridge. From here we roadie it to the southern access bridleway onto Black Fell. Once on the Fell we proceed North taking in great views and a mixture of singletrack and bed rock features (step ups/step downs/slabs etc). At the bottom we make a short climb on road to start of a really nice forest trail.
Following the Forest trail the next couple of miles is a mixture of bridleways and tracks which take in Piano Keys River bed trail. We should be close to dinner time at start of our climb up onto Iron Keld. Once on top of the fell we’ll have butties and take in great views of the Langdales. The next couple of miles are brilliant rocky and testing sections which need a measure of ability.
After the rock fest section we ride to the techy quarry trail. This section is the most technically challenging, however it is well doable by all (even Sarah cleaned it no probs!!! ).
Ill gloss over the next section as it involves a nightmare road climb, but like I said ive glossed over that aspect!
Once onto Loughrigg Terrace its pretty much downhill all the way back to the finish (save for the odd little climb).
