Altitude Profile (108 ft to 213 ft)
This is the forestry commision highlodge site, near thetford in norfolk following their marked BLACK cycle route. Most of the surface is natural, ranging from boggy mush to dry sand. The rest is through sandy pine wood, so when dry it is very soft. the pine tree roots are quite shallow so that can make for a bumpy ride. I think that the ride is at its best towards the end, there is a nice flowing sandy section, the leads towards the beast. Coming out of the beast is into the "old forest" that has some good qaulity single track (i hope I have that in the right order). The beast is great fun. Well worth marking the start and looping over. there are several bomb holes, but these are not to my taste, (or skill). There are loads of factilities, cafe, loos, and bike shop and makes a very good family day out.
