Track simplification

10km may not sound a lot, but when I reveal that there’s nearly 500m of ascending packed into this compact loop, it won’t come as a surprise that you’ll be spending all of your time either going up or down. Like the route itself, the Quantocks pack a lot of great riding into a small area. A heather and bracken covered backbone, boasting wonderful views across the Bristol Channel to South Wales, is carved along its flanks by countless steep, wooded combes. Every one of these oak infused valleys is home to a trail, more often than not of the singletrack variety. In this instance, we’ve gone for a route that takes in two of the best; Weacombe and Smith’s Combe, but the beauty of the Quantocks is you can easily bolt on extra descents should your legs allow.
