What is GPSies?

With GPSies you can view and download tracks recorded by a GPS device. Whether you are searching for jogging routes or Mountain Bike Tracks, with GPSies you can see what Tracks others have recorded. And you can download any tracks onto your GPS device so you won`t lose your way.

Who is behind GPsies?

The service is based on an an idea by Klaus Bechtold, a enthusiastic runner and software developer.

What does it cost?

The usage of GPSies is absolutely free (yes, just as in "free beer"). Perhaps we will take donations in the future, we`ll see.

What a stupid Name! How do you pronounce that?

It rhymes with "gypsies". But "the awesome tool to upload your tracks" is just as fine.

GPS stand for Global Positioning System. Wikipedia can tell you more about that.

Don`t I have to be logged in?

No. Everybody can upload tracks. When uploading we will ask you for a name or an alias which is only needed if you want to change or delete tracks later on. If you are registered, it's more easy to edit tracks.

Which formats are supported?

At the moment the formats we support are: Google Earth (KML and KMZ), PCX5 Tracks and Waypoints, GPX Tracks, Routes and Waypoints, GPX for Garmin Streetpilot, Garmin Course, Logbook, NMEA, OVL (ASCII), Fugawi, KOMPASS Verlag (Alpenverein), Navigon Route, OziExplorer. We try to offer the most broadly used formats for upload as well as download. If you are missing a format send us an eMail. Perhaps we can just put it in.
